SYDNEY \u2013 March 11, 2010- Animania, Australia\u2019s biggest and original Japanese pop culture festival is kick-starting a year of exciting events on Saturday, March 20 at the Australian Technology Park.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
There are a number of quirky, family-friendly activities including Giant Twister, the Gamer Room, origami mini-workshops, karaoke, and classic anime screenings.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Cosplay Chess: <\/span>Instead of chess pieces, <\/span>cosplayers <\/span><\/span>(or costume-players) act out their chess piece on a giant chess board – dressed as their favourite Japanese pop-culture personality! <\/span>Battleship: <\/span>A funky twist on dodgeball \u2013 the team that sinks the most “ships” wins! <\/span>Newspaper Cosplay: <\/span>A game of stylish improvisation in costume-making. <\/span>GAME SHOW: <\/span>A take on Japan\u2019s wacky game-show genre, filled with laughter, music, audience participation, and free giveaways! <\/span>COSPLAY<\/span><\/div>\n

Catch Animania\u2019s most popular attractions, the Animania Festival Cosplay Competition and the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) Pre-selections!<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Cosplay, a form of performance art is a costume spectacular bringing together vivid colour, extravagance, and eccentricity in a showcase of devotion by fans. From the catwalk to role-play skits, cosplay is open to everyone!<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>Special guests will include Brigitte B\u00f6ttcher, the winner of the 2009 World Cosplay Summit in Germany, as well as guest performances from previous Australian winners.<\/p>\n

Individually sculpted and hand-casted, they are truly a unique aesthetic. With a showcase for doll owners to display their collection, everyone is welcome! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
