AC\/DC exhibition rocked by 50,000 visitors<\/p>\n
AC\/DC Australia\u2019s Family Jewels, the first ever exhibition to celebrate Australia\u2019s greatest Rock\u2019n\u2019 Roll band, has been seen by more than 50,000 visitors since opening almost a month ago.<\/p>\n
The popularity of the exhibition has resulted in interest from venues within Australia and around the world that are eager to secure the exhibition.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are delighted that due to its overwhelming success, AC\/DC Australia\u2019s Family Jewels now has the potential to tour nationally and internationally. A tour would further highlight the significance of AC\/DC as a truly great Australian band, as well as the popularity of these types of exhibitions,\u201d revealed exhibition curator Tim Fisher.<\/p>\n
The enduring popularity of the band was further demonstrated by the success of the recent \u2018Back in Black Friday\u2019 concert held at the Arts Centre on 13 November. Featuring musicians including Johnny Galvatron, Paris Wells and Dave Larkin, the free performance attracted over 1500 people. Highlights can be seen at www.theartscentre.com.au\/acdc<\/a><\/p>\n AC\/DC Australia\u2019s Family Jewels celebrates the history, music, performance and creativity of one of the world\u2019s greatest Rock\u2019n\u2019 Roll bands.\u00a0 The exhibition augments the Arts Centre\u2019s existing AC\/DC collection and borrows material from the band themselves, the Albert Music archives and many fans and private collectors. The exhibition includes important costumes, instruments, stage props, photographs and rare hand-written material such as letters, notebooks and lyrics.<\/p>\n Also included is extensive moving image and sound material such as interviews, video clips and rarely seen performance footage, as well as published tour ephemera including exceptional early concert posters, programmes, backstage passes and AC\/DC collectibles.<\/p>\n AC\/DC Australia\u2019s Family Jewels is part of the Arts Centre\u2019s Icon exhibition series; a major annual exhibition that celebrates the careers of Australia\u2019s most internationally recognised performing artists. Since the inaugural exhibition in 2005, the Icon exhibition series has been an outstanding success, attracting over 1.5 million visitors to the Arts Centre.
