HOLLYWOOD, CA (August 5, 2013) \u2013 Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions announced today that Christopher McQuarrie will direct the next \u201cMISSION: IMPOSSIBLE\u201d film.<\/p>\n
McQuarrie will direct from a screenplay by Drew Pearce, with Tom Cruise reprising the iconic role of Ethan Hunt, who was first introduced to moviegoers in 1996.\u00a0 The project will be produced by Cruise through Tom Cruise Productions, Paramount and J.J. Abrams\u2019 Bad Robot, who served as producers on previous films in the hit series.\u00a0 Skydance Productions, who served as co-financers and executive producers of the last installment, will work closely with the team in the development and production process.<\/p>\n

McQuarrie recently wrote and directed \u201cJACK REACHER\u201d for Paramount and Skydance, with Cruise in the title role, based on the novels by New York Times<\/i> bestselling author Lee Child.\u00a0 His screenwriting credits include the upcoming \u201cEDGE OF TOMORROW\u201d and 2008\u2019s \u201cVALKYRIE,\u201d both starring Cruise, as well as \u201cTHE USUAL SUSPECTS,\u201d for which he earned an Academy Award\u00ae for best screenplay in 1995.<\/p>\n
