My Story My Content short film competition \u2013 Tertiary Category<\/em><\/p>\n

Margaret Pomeranz, co-host of ABC TV\u2019s At the Movies and celebrated film critic, is announced today as\u00a0 judge of the inaugural My Story My Content short film competition (Tertiary Category).<\/p>\n

The My Story My Content short film competition is an opportunity for Australian students at all levels to\u00a0 tell a unique story about themselves, their creativity, and why that is worth protecting, in a short film (no\u00a0 longer than sixty seconds). It is an initiative of the Intellectual Property Awareness Foundation (IPAF) and\u00a0 Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM).<\/p>\n

Designed to celebrate Australian screen creativity, the theme for the competition is \u2018Why do I love movies?\u2019\u00a0 This line, or an adaptation of it, must appear as a spoken line, caption or in some other way within the film,\u00a0 which must be made specifically for this year\u2019s competition.<\/p>\n

Films can be submitted \u2013 either by individual students, groups of students, or an entire class \u2013 in the three\u00a0 categories of Primary, Secondary & Tertiary (or equivalent).<\/p>\n

Prizes will be awarded to winners and runners-up in each category. First-place prizes include an iPad or\u00a0 choice of camera up to $1000 in value, $500 in cash and a Crumpler bag valued at $185. Additional prizes\u00a0 include DVD packs and hundreds of movie tickets.<\/p>\n

The winners will be announced at the 2013 IPAF ATOM Awards in Melbourne this October and November.<\/p>\n

IPAF\u2019s Executive Director, Lori Flekser said: \u2018IPAF is proud to collaborate with ATOM on the first My Story\u00a0 My Content short film competition and we hope it will grow into a significant competition for students at all\u00a0 levels who are interested in filmmaking and concerned about the impact that piracy has on their ability to\u00a0 have a viable career in the film or television industry.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018We are thrilled that Margaret Pomeranz has agreed to judge the Tertiary category. What an accolade for\u00a0 any aspiring filmmaker to have their short film judged the winner by one of Australia\u2019s most respected film\u00a0 critics.\u2019<\/p>\n

Entries must be uploaded through the online entry system at http:\/\/mystorymycontent.com\/<\/a>\u00a0 entry-system\/ by 5pm on Monday 19 August 2013.<\/p>\n
