With unprecedented power, deep social capabilities, and instant accessibility, PS4 allows\u00a0 game creators to unleash their imaginations and deliver new play experiences to gamers that were\u00a0 never before possible. The live audience at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, along with\u00a0 millions of fans streaming the event around the world, were also provided with a sneak peek of\u00a0 some of the games that will ultimately define the PS4 experience.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.technobuffalo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/sony-playstation-4-ps4-controller-003.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><br \/>\nNew PS4 Dualshock 4 Controller!<\/p>\n<p>Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. officially\u00a0 announced PS4 and presented the broader vision for PlayStation\u00ae evolving from a console in the\u00a0 living room into the best place to play wherever gamers are: \u201cOur vision for the future is\u00a0 consumer-centric, developer-inspired, and characterized by an unwavering commitment to\u00a0 phenomenal play experiences,\u201d House remarked. \u201cToday we are revealing the genesis of an\u00a0 expanding \u2018idea\u2019 about the future of play \u2013 an idea with enough potential to satisfy the insatiable\u00a0 appetites of our creative community of developers and gamers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/images.eurogamer.net\/2013\/articles\/1\/5\/5\/8\/1\/8\/2\/136140675315.jpg\/EG11\/resize\/600x-1\/quality\/91\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Acclaimed game designer and industry veteran Mark Cerny then took the stage to discuss\u00a0 PS4 in more detail, including the powerful system components that will give developers the\u00a0 canvas to fully express their creative ideas and deliver more immersive gaming that transcends\u00a0 today\u2019s expectations. Cerny, the lead system architect for PS4, also talked about the five key\u00a0 principles guiding the design of the consumer experience that will surround all games: simple,\u00a0 immediate, social, integrated, and personalized.\u00a0 \u201cWe wanted to ensure that nothing would come between the platform and the joy of play,\u201d\u00a0 Cerny said. \u201cWe also wanted to be sure that the system architecture could fluidly connect the\u00a0 player to a larger world of experiences, and provide easy access to everything PlayStation\u00ae has to\u00a0 offer \u2013 across the console and mobile spaces, and PlayStation\u00aeNetwork. And we were able to\u00a0 create, in PS4, a platform by game creators for game creators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>David Perry, noted developer and CEO of Gaikai Inc., which joined SCE group last year,\u00a0 announced the ambitions for PlayStation\u00aeNetwork and how PS4 will leverage Gaikai\u2019s cloud\u00a0 technology to deliver a sea change in how consumers discover, access, share and enjoy games.\u00a0 Whether that\u2019s connecting PSN more deeply into social networks or broadcasting the game a user\u00a0 is playing in real time or getting help from friends in new ways, the gaming experience on PS4 is\u00a0 rooted in social interaction. Perry also discussed the company\u2019s goal to make free exploration\u00a0 possible for various games, a concept he described as, \u201cTry it for free, share it if you like it, only\u00a0 pay for games you fall in love with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/hothardware.com\/newsimages\/Item24598\/PS4_Diablo_III.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>PS4 integrates second screens, including PS Vita, smartphones and tablets, to wrap gamers\u00a0 in their favorite content wherever they are. SCE\u2019s long-term goal is to make almost every PS4\u00a0 title playable on PS Vita by using Remote Play over Wi-Fi networks. \u201cPS Vita is the ultimate\u00a0 companion device for PS4, enabling gamers to pull their games from their beautiful HDTVs to PS\u00a0 Vita\u2019s beautiful 5-inch screen,\u201d Perry noted.<\/p>\n<p>The spotlight moved toward some of the most creative individuals in the development and\u00a0 publishing community, highlighting how PS4 brings a new synergy between hardware and\u00a0 software to enable new emotional states of play never before possible. \u201cThe future of PlayStation\u00a0 is about great games \u2013 inspiring, new experiences from the imaginations of the world\u2019s best\u00a0 creators,\u201d said Michael Denny, SVP, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gengame.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/knack-ps41.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Denny introduced developers behind some of the first-party titles being created\u00a0 exclusively for the new platform, including Guerrilla Games\u2019 Hermen Hulst, Sucker Punch\u00a0 Productions\u2019 Nate Fox, and Evolution Studios\u2019 Matt Southern.\u00a0 \u201c\u2018Next Generation\u2019 no longer just means \u2018more powerful hardware,\u2019\u201d Southern said.\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019re a next generation of gamer, we want to play great looking games but in new ways that fit\u00a0 our permanently-connected lives. To us, that means driving in a team. It\u2019s such a thrill for a\u00a0 studio to be asked to help define new PlayStation technology, so that we can bring our vision for\u00a0 team based racing to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/cf.shacknews.com\/images\/20130221\/screenshot.5_24774.nphd.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Celebrated independent developer Jonathan Blow then unveiled the first official trailer for\u00a0 The Witness, which will be exclusive to PS4 for console and underscores PlayStation\u2019s support of\u00a0 developers interested in pushing the boundaries of play.\u00a0 PlayStation\u00aeMeeting 2013 also featured two of the gaming industry\u2019s most talented\u00a0 creators providing a glimpse into the future of what\u2019s possible on PS4. David Cage from Quantic\u00a0 Dream explored narrative-driven gaming and how PS4\u2019s powerful hardware lets developers forget\u00a0 about technology and focus on creating experiences that trigger emotions. \u201cWe can concentrate\u00a0 on what amazing stories we want to tell and what incredible worlds we want to create,\u201d Cage said.\u00a0 \u201cWe can take you to places you have never seen before and make you feel emotions that you have\u00a0 never felt in real life, without having to wonder if we will have the horsepower to do so. We are\u00a0 now only limited by our imagination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/img.gawkerassets.com\/img\/18f9qtb6rzsjpjpg\/original.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Alex Evans from Media Molecule then re-imagined the concept of user-generated content\u00a0 and creativity. Armed with a PlayStation\u00aeMove motion controller, he demonstrated the freedom\u00a0 of expression that PS4 offers to creators, whether they\u2019re professional developers or gamers of all\u00a0 levels. Evans remarked: \u201cPS4, in our eyes, should be &#8216;the creative console&#8217;. It\u2019s the place you go\u00a0 to be inspired; It&#8217;s the place to experience other&#8217;s dreams, or make your own: it&#8217;s the place you go,\u00a0 to make. With PS4, with the creative console, we want to change making in every way: from\u00a0 music to gaming to story-telling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Building on PlayStation\u2019s long-standing history of collaborating with third-party partners,\u00a0\u00a0 PS4 will have software support from virtually every major developer and publisher across North\u00a0 America, Europe and Japan. At PlayStation Meeting 2013, titles in development and technology\u00a0 demos were presented by partners including Activision Publishing, Inc., Blizzard Entertainment,\u00a0 Inc., Bungie, Inc., CAPCOM, Epic Games, Inc., Havok, SQUARE ENIX Co., Ltd., Ubisoft\u00a0 Entertainment, showcasing how the development community has already embraced PS3\u2019s ability\u00a0 to make their imaginations become reality.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.pocket-lint.com\/images\/KCGF\/ps4-killzone-shadow-fall-gameplay-video-2.jpg?20130221-004438\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ubisoft Entertainment Co-Founder and CEO Yves Guillemot announced that\u00a0 Watch_Dogs, introduced at E3 2012 to critical acclaim, will launch with PS4. \u201cToday, with PS4,\u00a0 Sony Computer Entertainment is introducing an amazing new platform,\u201d Guillemot said. \u201cIt will\u00a0 let developers like ours deliver games that surpass anything previously possible on a home\u00a0 console. PS4 will also help us deliver on what we believe to be the future of gaming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chris Metzen, Senior Vice President of Story and Franchise Development of Blizzard\u00a0 Entertainment, Inc., unveiled that the award-winning Diablo franchise would make its console\u00a0 debut with PlayStation. Diablo III will be adapted for PS4 with an interface custom-designed to work naturally on controllers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/assets.sbnation.com\/assets\/2206497\/face.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc., announced full support from its \u00a0developers for PS4. Hirshberg then introduced Bungie, Inc., which is working on \u201cthe next great\u00a0 video game franchise \u2013 Destiny.\u201d \u00a0Harold Ryan, President of Bungie, Inc., announced that Destiny will have exclusive content for PlayStation gamers. Ryan said: \u201cLike PS4, Destiny is an online, connected experience. \u00a0Like PS4, Destiny lets you access the content you love from multiple devices.
