<\/p>\nDETROIT \u2013 As Chevrolet takes the wraps off the all-new Corvette Stingray, fans of Sony Computer Entertainment\u2019s PlayStation\u00ae3 (PS3\u2122) system will have the first chance to push the car to the limits in the critically acclaimed racing game Gran Turismo\u00ae5.
\nNearly 500,000 people around the world have driven the camouflaged Corvette prototype since it was introduced in the game in November of last year.<\/p>\n

Chevrolet and Polyphony Digital Inc., the developers of the Gran Turismo franchise, collaborated to provide an authentic driving experience in the Corvette Stingray \u2013 the seventh generation of the iconic sports car.<\/p>\n
\u201cGetting behind the wheel of the all-new Corvette Stingray \u2013 the most powerful, most efficient and most sophisticated standard Corvette ever \u2013 is sure to be a thrilling experience,\u201d said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Global Marketing. \u201cThrough this unique collaboration with Gran Turismo, Chevrolet is able, for the first time, to give performance car enthusiasts access to such an exclusive driving experience the day after the Corvette Stingray\u2019s world debut.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the creation of the virtual Corvette Stingray, careful attention was paid to the tiniest details of the new design inside and out, as well as to the enhanced performance driving characteristics \u2013 down to the shift schedule for the 7-speed manual transmission.<\/p>\n
The Corvette Stingray will produce an estimated 450 horsepower and 450 ft. lbs. of torque, is capable of accelerating from 0-60 in less than four seconds and will achieve more than 1g in cornering grip. It will also be the most fuel efficient Corvette ever, exceeding the EPA estimated 26 mpg of the current model.<\/p>\n

All six previous generations of the Corvette have been available to players of the Gran Turismo series since the game\u2019s inception and the Chevrolet nameplate remains one of the most popular vehicles to race. The Corvette Stingray will be available as a free download through the PlayStation\u00ae Store from your PlayStation\u00ae3 system on Tuesday, Jan. 15 (Australia, Jan 16), and can be driven on some of the world\u2019s renowned race tracks, including Daytona International Speedway and the infamous Nurburgring \u2013 one of the track surfaces used in testing to evaluate the new Corvette Stingray\u2019s driving dynamics.<\/p>\n
