Charles Chaplin came to Mack Sennett\u2019s Keystone Studios late in 1913 as a little-known British vaudevillian and, after a year, had\u00a0established his Tramp character, learnt to write and direct his own films and achieved public recognition as a star comedian. Although Keystone did not publicise its performers by name, standees of Chaplin\u2019s likeness outside theatres sufficed to attract audiences. Some of the films, especially Tillie\u2019s Punctured Romance<\/em>, remained in theatrical distribution for decades.<\/p>\n The Keystone Collection<\/em> presents thirty-five of Chaplin\u2019s films made during his time at the Keystone Studios, painstakingly restored from early-generation materials gathered from around the world.
