{"id":24277,"date":"2012-09-17T18:05:24","date_gmt":"2012-09-17T08:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/power-up.space\/?p=24277"},"modified":"2012-09-17T18:05:24","modified_gmt":"2012-09-17T08:05:24","slug":"monster-fest-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.impulsegamer.com\/wordpress\/?p=24277","title":{"rendered":"MONSTER FEST 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MELBOURNE, 17 September 2012;\u00a0<\/strong>Monster Pictures, the notorious Australian film distributor behind THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE franchise, has launched the program for its showcase theatrical film event,\u00a0<strong>Monster Fest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe program is a culmination of a year spent searching for the coolest, edgiest and most uniquely twisted films on the planet \u2013 we\u2019re sure we\u2019ve got them too, twenty-five of them in fact. You won\u2019t be disappointed!\u201d Neil Foley of Monster Pictures commented.<\/p>\n<p>Opening the festival will be the Australian premiere of THE ABCs OF DEATH, an American\/New Zealand co-production that has just premiered at the prestigious Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Closing the fest will be AMERICAN MARY, a film made by rising horror superstars and identical twins, Jen and Sylvia Soska. It recently premiered at the Film4 Fright Fest in London to rave reviews, and has the sisters being compared to the Coen Brothers.<\/p>\n<p>Other titles include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>EXCISION &#8211; starring Beverly Hills 90210\u2019s Annalynne \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 McCord, Traci Lords and cult film icon John Waters<\/li>\n<li>Irish monster flick GRABBERS<\/li>\n<li>Elijah Wood in MANIAC<\/li>\n<li>Spanish zombie opus REC 3 GENESIS<\/li>\n<li>Australian veteran Nicolas Hope in REDD INC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Four local films will also have red carpet premiere screenings at the fest. These include Stephen Amis\u2019 sci-fi comedy, THE 25<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0REICH and Tanzeal Rahim\u2019s MUIRHOUSE.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs much as Monster Fest is about the films, it\u2019s also about guests &#8211; and we\u2019ve got guests to die for!\u201d says Foley.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At the very top of the line up is B-movie icon, \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 writer\/producer\/director\u00a0<strong>Larry Cohen<\/strong>. Cohen will present a \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 night of master classes and screenings with two of his most famous titles \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE STUFF and MANIAC COP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Appearing with Cohen will be the star of several of his \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 films,\u00a0<strong>Laurene Landon<\/strong>. Landon has just finished a season of \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 her amazing 1983 sword and sandal warrior epic HUNDRA at Quentin \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tarantino\u2019s New Beverly Cinema. Packed houses were privileged to witness \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Landon introducing the film.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>HUNDRA will screen as part of the \u2018Night of the Women\u2019 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 screenings, and Miss Landon will be joined on stage by the most iconic \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 horror hostess on the planet,<strong>\u00a0Cassandra Peterson\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; or as \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 she is better known,\u00a0<strong>ELVIRA<\/strong>.
