{"id":2397,"date":"2009-07-08T18:13:10","date_gmt":"2009-07-08T08:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/power-up.space\/?p=2397"},"modified":"2009-07-08T18:13:10","modified_gmt":"2009-07-08T08:13:10","slug":"new-competitive-multiplayer-maps-for-%e2%80%9chalo-3-odst%e2%80%9d-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.impulsegamer.com\/wordpress\/?p=2397","title":{"rendered":"New competitive multiplayer maps for \u201cHalo 3: ODST\u201d revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft and Bungie today revealed the remaining three multiplayer maps for Halo 3: ODST, which are sure to get fans around the world excited.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The three new \u201cHalo 3: ODST\u201d maps are Heretic, Citadel and Longshore:<\/p>\n<p>Heretic returns players to familiar ground as the \u201cHalo 2\u201d arena Midship makes its long-rumoured debut in \u201cHalo 3.\u201d The stark interior of the Pious Inquisitor might appear austere on first glance, but Heretic\u2019s symmetrical spaces require players to execute complex strategies in order to outplay their opponents.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Citadel may be a long abandoned Forerunner stronghold, but its small, symmetrical confines are far from secure. Two opposing bases offer little safety for players looking for solace. Instead, Citadel forces small squads to stay in constant communication, keep their heads on a swivel, and be prepared to adjust combat tactics in close quarters.<\/p>\n<p>Longshore lacks the commercial ships that once made it a lucrative port for Old Mombasa, but it still bustles with activity. Designed for large scale combat and well suited for smaller affairs, Longshore\u2019s multitude of industrial buildings, elevated walks, and open inlets conspire to create a complex battleground tailored for multiple combat scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>When \u201cHalo 3: ODST\u201d drops on the 22nd of September, it will deliver a completely new campaign, a new cooperative multiplayer experience called Firefight, the complete \u201cHalo 3\u201d multiplayer experience on a standalone disc, and new competitive multiplayer maps for \u201cHalo 3\u201d you won\u2019t find anywhere else.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Developed exclusively for Xbox 360 by acclaimed developer Bungie, \u201cHalo 3: ODST\u201d is a new game in the \u201cHalo\u201d saga that lets people experience events leading up to the epic story told in \u201cHalo 3\u201d through the eyes of an ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper), as they search for clues leading to the whereabouts of their scattered squad and the motivations behind the Covenant\u2019s invasion of New Mombasa.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition to a brand new campaign, \u201cHalo 3: ODST\u201d introduces a new cooperative multiplayer mode called Firefight which allows \u201cHalo\u201d fans to experience co-operative gaming in a whole new way: they will be fighting as members of an ODST squad against waves of increasingly challenging enemies across a variety of battlefields. This experience is made even more intense with the integration of \u201cHalo 3\u2019s\u201d \u201cskulls,\u201d which progressively activate as time goes on to alter the gameplay and up the challenge. Players will battle through wave after wave in search of high scores, Achievements and bragging rights.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHalo 3: ODST\u201d also includes a second standalone disc with three new \u201cHalo 3\u201d multiplayer maps, all original \u201cHalo 3\u201d maps, as well as the \u201cLegendary,\u201d \u201cHeroic,\u201d and \u201cMythic\u201d Map packs for a total of 24 maps.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Purchasing \u201cHalo 3: ODST\u201d will allow \u201cHalo\u201d fans get access to the \u201cHalo: Reach\u201d multiplayer beta when the beta goes live in the future.
