21 February 2012:\u00a0<\/strong>iiNet, Australia\u2019s second largest DSL broadband provider, has announced the return of iiNet\u2019s TopGeek \u2013 the search to find the country\u2019s most talented geek through a series of\u00a0 challenges designed to test gaming, fandom, creativity and Internet skills.<\/p>\n TopGeek 2.0 follows last year\u2019s highly successful inaugural contest, and will again see geeks of all types show off their geeky prowess in an attempt to take out the much-sought-after title of Australia\u2019s next TopGeek.<\/p>\n The winner will also score an all-expenses paid trip to the United States to attend one of four \u2018geek\u2019 events including ComicCon, Consumer Electronic Show (CES), South by Southwest (SXSW) or Penny Arcade Expo (PAX).<\/p>\n iiNet\u2019s Communications Manager, Anthony Fisk, said the competition encourages everyone to discover their inner geek and embrace it.<\/p>\n \u201cNo matter what you\u2019re into, if you\u2019re passionate about something you can be considered a geek, which is why we\u2019ve introduced a variety of entry categories including art, tech, gaming, Internet and fandom,\u201d Mr Fisk said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve upped the ante this year. As well as bigger and better challenges, we\u2019ve introduced TopGeek TV \u2013 a fortnightly series hosted by award-winning comedian and self-proclaimed geek, Lawrence Leung.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing a massive geek myself, I was so excited to be asked to host iiNet\u2019s TopGeek TV that I got a nosebleed.\u00a0I\u2019m intrigued to see whether the chosen geeks can eclipse me in obsession and obscurity. If they try, I will crush them like an AT-AT on the Planet Hoth.\u201d says Lawrence.<\/p>\n TopGeek TV will air each fortnight from 30 March 2012 until the TopGeek 2.0 final on 10\u00a0May 2012 (also hosted by Lawrence Leung).
