Here\u2019s a quick update on the weekend\u2019s play at the 2011 SEA\/ANZ Battle.net Invitational tournament!<\/p>\n
With eight of the best StarCraft II players in the region in contention, after a grueling two days of play the semi-finals wrapped up at a frantic pace. With last year\u2019s Thai Terran champion MiTH.RedArchon relegated to fourth place, the top three became a volatile showdown between the remaining field of Zerg players.<\/p>\n
Rising up from the lower bracket, New Zealand\u2019s xGKingJazBas managed to best his Sydneysider teammate xGKingMafia in a close contest, putting xGKingJazBas through to the grand final and earning him a place at the global finals at BlizzCon next month.<\/p>\n
The finale proved to be a rematch, with xGKingJazBas facing off against his first round opponent, renowned Brisbane player mOOnGLaDe. \u00a0Off the back of a some big wins in Europe, mOOnGLaDe was in fine form and able to get through to the finals without losing a match, and through aggressive early game offensives, managed to topple his grand final opponent and emerge as the tournament champion. The win secured GLaDe the $5,000 USD grand prize and his spot in the global finals as well.<\/p>\n
Congratulations to Andrew \u2018mOOnGLaDe\u2019 Pender and Sung \u2018xGKingJazBas\u2019 Cho on their wins over the weekend \u2013 no doubt the SEA\/ANZ community are eager to see how they\u2019ll fare against the world\u2019s best at BlizzCon in October as the finalists of the regional Invitationals play to determine the global champion.<\/p>\n
