Aug 19, 2011 <\/span>\u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/span>THQ Inc.<\/span><\/a><\/span> (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced that it will be releasing a playable demo for its upcoming 3<\/span>rd<\/span><\/sup> Person Action\/Shooter, <\/span>Warhammer<\/span>\u00ae<\/span><\/sup> 40,000<\/span>\u00ae<\/span><\/sup>: Space Marine<\/span><\/em>\u00ae <\/span><\/sup><\/span>on Xbox Live<\/span>\u00ae <\/span><\/sup>online entertainment network, PlayStation<\/span>\u00ae<\/span><\/sup> Network and Windows PC<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span><\/span>Space Marine <\/span><\/span><\/em>demo<\/span> features two very different areas of the game. The first pits the player against an Ork horde outside the gates of a munitions factory. Armed with six devastating weapons, including the iconic bolter and lethal chainsword, the player will get to experience Space Marine\u2019s<\/em><\/span> seamless mix of melee and ranged combat first hand as they take on the rampaging invaders. The second area gives players a taste of the exhilarating Jump Pack sequences where the game\u2019s hero\u2014Captain Titus\u2014takes to the skies to rain death from above. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The demo is planned to launch simultaneously for the <\/span><\/span>Xbox 360<\/span>\u00ae<\/span><\/sup>video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC on 23<\/span>rd<\/span><\/sup> August and then on PlayStation<\/span>\u00ae<\/span><\/sup>3 computer entertainment system on 24<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> August.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Players who have pre-ordered the digital PC version of <\/span>Space Marine<\/span><\/em> through Steam will receive an exclusive early access period starting on the 18<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> of August, running through the weekend.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Steam will also be running a Warhammer 40,000 bundle sale at a very special rate during the same period.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Check out STEAM for more details.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
