SYDNEY, 16 March 2009 – Thanks to PlayStation\u00ae, the potential career defining \u2018Launch
\nYour Band\u2019 (LYB) competition is on again. The event, now in its third-year, is designed to
\nuncover unsigned acts looking to get their music out there. It is also an innovative way for
\nPerisher to secure cutting edge music for its freeride television commercials, whilst helping
\nbands to gain national media exposure.<\/p>\n
The 2009 competition opened at midnight on 10 March and already there has been a great
\nresponse with many unsigned bands eagerly uploading their music and lyrics. “This year is
\ntipped to be bigger than ever. So far the entries have been very diverse and are coming from
\nall over Australia, which is fantastic. This is creating interesting listening and no doubt will
\nresult in a tough job for judging,” said Marty Adnum, Creative Director of Out of the Square
\nMedia, Perisher\u2019s media agency and innovators of LYB.<\/p>\n
Presenting partner, PlayStation, continues its long-standing association with Perisher and is
\nproud to be doing its bit to put upcoming Aussie artists into the spotlight. \u201cThis will be our
\ntwelfth season supporting Perisher and to have the opportunity, in turn, to support some great
\nupcoming Aussie music talent was an exciting opportunity for us,\u201d said Raoul Bedford, Senior

Last year\u2019s competition attracted over 400 entries with the winners, Burn the Drama, taking
\nout the competition with their indie-rock inspired song \u2018Live in the Moment.\u2019 Not only did they
\nappear on Perisher\u2019s freeride television, radio and on-line ads, they also had a video clip
\nproduced and won a horde of other great prizes. Since then, Burn the Drama, along with 2007
\nLYB winners Jordan Millar & The Question, have gone on to gain national media attention
\nand both bands have released their own albums.<\/p>\n
This year, in addition to winning Perisher\u2019s lucrative recording deal, first prize will also receive
\nthe opportunity to perform live at the Perisher Spring Carnival, a Perisher snow holiday, Nikon
\ndigital camera, Lonsdale clothing and presenting partner, PlayStation, is giving away
\nPLAYSTATION\u00ae3 SingStar\u00ae packs which include the latest hit artist collection,<\/p>\n
SingStar\u00aeQueen.<\/p>\n
There are also great prizes for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places, plus the top twenty entries will be
\nfeatured on the Fusion Parks and Pipe jukebox and Perisher\u2019s First Tracks compilation CD.
\nEntries will be judged on originality, composition and relevance to Perisher\u2019s funky freeride
\nscene.<\/p>\n
