Fox have released a number of clips from their upcoming animated feature RIO<\/strong> which stars Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg as two Macaws on the loose in Rio de Janeiro. See below for the embedded clip of “Nigel’s Rap,” a song sung by a rather cantankerous bird voiced by Flight of the Conchord’s Jemaine Clement. Fans of that band’s music and accompanying TV series should immediately recognize Clement’s style – it seems so much his I wouldn’t be suprised if he – unofficially or otherwise – contributed to the lyrics. <\/p>\n

The film was produced by Blue Sky Studios, the Fox-owned studio behind Robots<\/em>, Horton Hears a Who<\/em> and the Ice Age<\/em> movies. It’ directed by Carlos Saldanha and is releasing nationally on April 7th.<\/p>\n

RIO is a 3-D animation feature from the makers of the \u201cIce Age\u201d films. Set in the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforest of Brazil, the comedy-adventure centers on Blu, a rare macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind. When Blu discovers there\u2019s another \u2013 and that she\u2019s a she \u2013 he leaves the comforts of his cage in small town Minnesota and heads to Rio. But it\u2019s far from love at first sight between the domesticated and flight-challenged Blu and the fiercely independent, high-flying female, Jewel. Unexpectedly thrown together, they embark on an adventure of a lifetime, where they learn about friendship, love, courage, and being open to life\u2019s many wonders. RIO brings together a menagerie of vivid characters, a heart-warming story, colorful backdrops, energizing Latin and contemporary music, and family-friendly song and dance.<\/p>\n
