Nerf N-Strike

From the live action toy series called "Nerf" comes Nerf N-Strike for the Nintendo Wii that actually gives the gamer a real-world Nerf gun which not only fires real Nerf darts but can also be used on the game as a console gun. How cool is that? Although aimed at the younger gamer, Nerf N-Strike features a variety of different gameplay modes and multiplayer options for players to engage in some great virtual Nerf battles.

Features:

  • Blast Through Danger! Explore a top-secret NERF facility and unravel the mystery of the unknown threat that awaits.

  • Many Ways to Play! With the unique SWITCH SHOT EX-3 NERF blaster, exchange the dart chamber for a Wii-mote to bring a realistic NERF experience to a world specially suited for blasting.

  • Over the Top NERF Blasters! Play with over 25 NERF Blasters including the MAVERICK REV-6, VULCAN EBF-25, LONGSHOT CS-6, and many never seen before!

  • Multiplayer! Go head-to-head with up to 4 players using additional Wii Remotes and SWITCH SHOT EX-3 Blasters.

Although reminiscent of Sony's light-gun series such as a Virtua Cop, Nerf N-Strike is in no way as complex, however the developers have successfully managed to capture the arcade elements of this genre on the Nintendo Wii. Before emarking on the game, you need to connect your Wii controller into the EX-3 NERF blaster and from there, you're ready to engage in some great shooter fun.

Although the game contains a great single-player mode where you must engage in a variety of futuristic scenarios from robots to aliens, there is also some tactics involved in this entertaining first person shooter-esq shooting game. The game also incorporates a variety of real-world Nerf weaponry that you can choose between stages and of course some operate differently than others.

After completing the single player campaign mode, you can also engage in other gamers with up to four players at once. There are some great mini-games available that are generally of a shooting gallery style, however they are entertaining to engage in, thanks to the Nerf EX-3 blaster.

Graphically, the title is probably one of the most visually impressive games on the Wii for quite some time and it appears that both the developers and EA have pulled out all the "guns" for the presentation. The graphics are at times eye candy with some great Hollywood style moments and explosions in the game. Match that with some interesting cutscenes to assist with the story and Nerf N-Strike is a rather impressive game on the graphic front. The sound effects also go hand-in-hand with the gameplay plus some clichéd and over the top voice acting that actually matches the genre quite well.

As the game is aimed at the younger generation of gamers, don't expect anything too offensive which makes this a game that can be played by children of all ages. It's a first person shooter without all the gore that is commonly found in these genres and I must say, even without the explicit graphical violence, the developers have done a great job at recreating the world of Nerf for the younger market.
