Untold Legends: The Warriors Code

Continuing on the popular Untold Legends series, The Warriors Code is a fantastic journey for both new and old fans of the game that really shows the strengths of the PSP. 

One of the things that I like about this game is the fact that it’s using the Baldur’s Gate engine as previously seen in Dark Alliance for the PS2 and if you have not played that game you really need your head checked as it is sweet as heck. I don’t know if you can get it anymore but you sure as heck should. 

The last version of the game had some issues with low res textures and the way that the characters and other effects interacted with those. There were some real issues there, despite the fact that the game was tons of fun but in this version it’s all fixed up and the way that the title plays is great. 

Framerates for this game are good and the weapons and spells effects look great throughout the title. Explosions resonate throughout the game, lighting is well rendered and the whole thing is a treat to watch.

There really isn’t too much in the way of storyline in this title, however you won’t care too much as you’ll be having too much fine playing your way through the game and battling all the baddies that are thrown your way that you have to defeat before you can move onto the next level. Fighting is what it’s all about and getting jiggy with all things magical is also a ton of fun.

Adding to the chaos of the game this time is also a powerup or changling attack called the Fury that allows you to change form and do more damage whilst in an altered state. You can’t rock the magic though when you are changed so ultimately you will find as your human figure gets more powerful that the need for the beast form ultimately becomes redundant.

One of the things that I loved about this series is the fact that you can play a pretty mean co op game with a minimum of fuss that is in my opinion the best part of the title. The control system is intuitive and the learning curve to sort yourself out is extremely minimal with commands mapped to a point that you will find it all easy to figure out.

As you play your way through the game you will find that you are picking up treasure, weapons and other goodies that help you in your quest. As per other titles of this nature, you will be able to upgrade and repair the items in your inventory to increase the power of your attacks and other bits and pieces. 

This is an engaging game that will help you lose track of reality for some time. The action is fast paced and the challenge is wading your way through it all and making it in one piece. I also found that The Warriors Code is one of those games that you will happily play more than once certainly making it worth the cost of entry.
