Psychotoxic

Welcome to another PC shooter! It's funny how many of these games are on the market that nearly make it there but just fall short of expectations. Psychotoxic is one of those games. 

It's not that it's a lazy game, but it just features so many of the hallmarked problems that litter some of these titles that it proves to be very annoying and not allow the game to stand out due to how good other shooters are on the market. 

In Psychotoxic you play the role of Angela Prophet in a mission to save the world from destruction from all sorts of kooks out there of both the human and inhuman variety. The game attempts to up the ante from the normal stuff by giving Angela some powers that she can expand upon during the game but eventually the game will boil down to the fast action that you do get from both the weapons that you carry, along with how accurate the AI is, even from a long distance. 

Graphically this game is probably something midrange in terms of looks. The title forces you along a particular route for most of the time with there being a very linear approach to the whole matter. Audio on the game is up to par, however there are times that you can hear but not see a lot of action that drove me nuts. 

All things said and done this is a game that has it's faults that really affect the overall enjoyment that you should be having whilst playing. There are some dream type levels where Angela does get to mix it up a bit with bizarre designs etc, but these are too few and far between to really be of value. 

That said however, this game does retail at only 20 bucks which said and done is not too bad. It does set a bad precedent though as the only way you can really go with the price is down... It's simply a shame that a bit more time wasn't taken on checking and general quality control before release. 

As a quick get in and shoot game this is alright but certainly nothing special.
