This is one heck of a nice game that expands upon the look and feel of the fantasy games that have gone before it. Whilst not offering anything that gamers will think is entirely new to the genre, Gothic 3 certainly goes the extra mile in terms of providing an engrossing escape from reality.
This title continues the saga told in Gothic 1 and Gothic 2, but this time you are taking the fight to the baddies to rescue humankind from the Orc menace in a game that should differ somewhat each time you play it due to the fact that there is not a direct need for linear style of gameplay. Quests are well planned out through the title and newcomers to the series should be aware that they are quite challenging. Progression in terms of character development is fairly slow and just jumping willy nilly into fights will see you dying in short order. At the start of the game, proceed with caution or you will find yourself getting killed. Constantly. There is a lot to do and see in this game and the graphics really show us some lush scenes that clearly illustrate the attention to detail that the world has to offer. The camera in the game works well and did not get stuck at any stage that hindered combat which is always a real bonus in this type of adventuring. Nothing worse than copping a beating because the camera will not behave itself. Your initial character appears in the title as pretty bland but then you are given the standard options of what character class you want it to be. Whether you choose magic, brute strength or hunting skills is up to you and the way that you play the game will depend upon those initial choices as you rely on the strengths of those class to get you through it all.
The difficulty gradually ramps up as you play, allowing you to get a feel for how things work in the world of Myrtana. The developers have tweaked the fighting system ingame, making it easier to get a handle on combat and the easier undertaking of it all. Some sweet spell and weapons effects are added to the title giving you more of an immersive feel, not to mention a definite wow factor. Something to be aware of is that this game is a bit of a resources monkey with a need for better than normal system to run decently. Here are the requirements for the game, both Minimum and Recommended : Minimum 2GHZ 512MB RAM 128MB Graphics card Recommended 3GHZ 1024MB RAM GeForce 6800 So just make sure you have gear that can run this game as it’s a lot of fun and add to that quite a lengthy gameplay experience. The title will please all gamers and comes to you most certainly recommended. |
