Finally, an extremely affordable wireless PlayStation 2 controller that not only performs well but is also one of the most comfortable controllers this side of town. The Futuretronics Griffin Wireless controller is the ultimate wireless controller for your PlayStation 2 and features an extremely similar and ergonomic design to the original Dual Shock controller.

The first thing you will notice with the Griffin Wireless controller is how light this controller is compared with other cordless controllers on the market. The controller also contains all the buttons you would expect to find on a Dual Shock controller but with two exceptions, the 1-Player, 2-Player and off switch. This switch allows you to connect an additional controller without the need to have two receivers.

The installation of the Griffin Wireless controllers was extremely easy and it simply just plugged into a spare game port on the PlayStation 2. The controller itself takes four AAA batteries and it also features auto-sleep circuitry that turns the controller off if it hasn't been used for two minutes that is extremely ideal for saving battery power.

The game was tested on a variety of different games that included Gungrave, Sly Raccoon, Tony Hawk 4 and Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions and performed extremely well on all titles with the exception of Tony Hawk.

Don't get us wrong, the controller is still useful for Tony Hawk but sometimes the buttons had to be pressed harder to perform a trick and it did suffer from lag when too many buttons were pressed at once. Sly Raccoon performed almost identical to the Dual Shock controller and there was no lag whatsoever.

Features

  • PSOne and PlayStation 2 compatible
  • Dual Shock and Dual Shock 2 compatible
  • Ergonomic Design
  • Freedom of Movement (10 metre range)
  • Supports an additional controller for 2 Player action
  • Auto-Sleep circuitry shuts power off to conserve batteries

The design of the Griffin Wireless is probably one of the most comfortable and ergonomic third party controllers around for the PlayStation 2. The only faults we could pick with the controller was that the analog stick was a little limp and that sometimes you had to push the buttons harder to get a more accurate response.

Futuretronics boasts that the controller will work up to 10 metres away and although this comment is true, we did find that some games had problems from this distance. In order to get the most from this controller, we recommend that you keep the controller in line of sight from the receiver so you do not suffer any lag.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a second controller or a cordless controllers for your PlayStation 2, then we would highly recommend the Griffin Wireless from Futuretronics that not only promises value for money but also a great and useful controller. Highly Recommended and available now!
