"Great Stuff!"

Well it's not often that we get the same thing from two different companies, in fact it's never happened before, but for the first time we have the 4Gamers XK-10 Light Gun to review and to be honest, except for a couple of colours etc, I am pretty sure that we are looking at pretty much the same beast here as a gun put out by Futuretronics. This however is beside the point and merely an observation.

That said however, this is one awesome gun, just like the Futuretronics one, comfortable and ergonomic to use over a long period of time with a number of great features built into it. I must confess also that I prefer the colour scheme that this has adopted over the orange stickers that some guns have on them so no one confuses them for the real thing!

The beauty of the Light Gun is that it is fully G-con1 and G-con2 compatible and includes a high speed USB plug  to connect to your PlayStation 2 console. Thus the gun handles exactly the same as an official Sony PlayStation 2 gun controller. The unit itself has three different modes that include normal, G-con1 and G-con2. These modes are great for games that do not support the G-con series.

The gun contains the following buttons that are vital for an excellent gaming experience

  • Reload Button

  • Button-A
  • Button-B
  • Start Button
  • Select Button
  • Trigger Button
  • Normal/Auto fire button &
  • Normal/G-con1/G-con2 button

The Light Gun was tested thoroughly on Time Crisis 3 and Vampire Night and performed extraordinary well. Time Crisis 3 was a blast (no pun intended) and the gun never got too heavy while playing the game. The buttons are all located in accessible locations, so you will not be fiddling to find the correct button. As with most gun games on the PlayStation 2, all you need is the trigger and reload buttons to play the games effectively.

One of the primary things you are going to notice is that this gun is comfortable to say the least and with it's grip placement you can endure long gaming sessions with minimal discomfort. Also I like being able to reload simply by slapping the handle of the pistol for a quick reload instead of having to point the gun off screen as you've had to in the past.

The gun comes with satisfaction guaranteed and the folks at Bluemouth Interactive tell me that they stand behind that guarantee. After giving this gun a good going over, I don't think they'll see many/any back any time soon!

Highly recommended! Available at all good game stores and if it's not, ask the staff why!
