Microsoft MultiMedia Keyboard

Review Date: 19th November 2002
Review Score: 8.9/10
Distributor: Microsoft

The Microsoft MultiMedia Keyboard is designed with electronic media of all kinds in mind. The layout contains hot keys that will play all sorts of multimedia with standard control keys such as play/pause, fast forward etc.. This can be used with music CDs, DVDs and MP3 files.

Features of the Microsoft MultiMedia Keyboard

  • Hot Keys - Instantly access applications and other functions

  • Media Centre - Press a button to enjoy your multimedia experience

  • F Lock Key - Press the button to lock in standard F Key functionality

  • Sleep Hot Key - To conserve energy when not in use

  • Log Off Hot Key

  • Enhanced F Keys - Experience common tasks instantly

  • Sleek Profile

  • Striking Looks

The keyboard is extremely comfortable to use and the detachable palm rest is a good idea to ensure that users are at ease when using the product.

Although the styling of the keyboard does remind me more of something that Logitech would create, The MultiMedia keyboard is a great looking piece of hardware that will suit most systems. The Hot Keys inclusion is very good with one touch opening of commonly used folders.

Along the control panel the other keys used are sized according to usage with the volume keys being the largest on the panel. It all makes good sense and the general grouping of functional keys will make for a more proactive experience.
