Seven (I am not going to keep putting the number in) is the masterful story of a serial killer who is killing according to the seven deadly sins. On the case are detectives Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and Mills (Brad Pitt).

Mills is new in town and partnered with sleuth Somerset who is on his last week on the job. Planned with excruciating detail the killer, John Doe, has everything planned and bodies are piling up as the two detectives race to find out who he is and who is going to be killed next.

The level of gory detail in this movie is an odd combination for me to take. It does not go over the top, however nothing is left to the imagination. The crimes are brutal, however the shock value is lessened somewhat more by Fincher's style that has us along for the ride with the two stars. It feels as though we are there with them.

Also starring Gwyneth Paltrow as Mills young wife, Seven is a macabre ride in the race to catch a killer.

With the deluxe version of this DVD I did not feel that full value for money was provided. The extras are excellent, however having viewed them, I am sure that they would have all fit on one DVD without the extra price tag.
