Creative have finally released their much anticipated Gigaworks T40 speakers that retail for a recommend price of $199 that not only boasts decent sound quality and appearance but is quite affordable in relation to other similar products on the market.
The first thing that you will notice about the Gigaworks T40 is the sleek design with black and grey colouring that would not look out of place in a variety of homes and offices. It's ironic that a speaker system that small can produce not only a pure listening experience but the volume is also quite impressive. Features
The installation of the Gigaworks T40 was a breeze and it simply plugged into our Intel Quad Core PC audio outlet and the electrical point in the wall. That was it, installation was completed. Creative have also upped the ante by introducing docking port access to the front of the device with Creative's X-30 Docking station for iPods. Although this accessory is sold separately, it's nice to know that Creative are also looking after the iPod crowd. The Gigaworks T40 has been aimed at a variety of markets that include computers, music, movies and the like which makes the perfect accessory for any of these devices. To turn the T40's on, there is a power button located at
the back of the unit which is a huge improvement over some of the
earlier Creative products that had the power switch on the volume
control. Some users like to keep their volume setting at a particular
level and this version of the speakers will allow for this. Where the unit really did kick into overdrive was on the PlayStation 3 and listening to games such as Uncharted: Drake's Fortune or the latest Ratchet & Clank game sounded quite impressive. Whether you were firing a shotgun or listening to the strange sounds of a distant planet, the T40's portrayed the sounds quite well, especially the background ambience. We watched the
Nicholas Cage movie Next with the Gigaworks T40's connected to our LG
Plasma TV and it was a
mini cinematic experience with the right amount of bass that allowed for
an even level of sound. Music displayed similar results and we were
pleasantly surprised at how loud these speakers could actually go. |
