Belkin’s latest edition to the TuneCast Auto series has arrived with the TuneCast Auto with ClearScan that supports the Apple iPod and the popular new Apple iPhone. Originally users needed two separate devices for their cars, one to charge and power their Apple iPod and also another to tune it into their FM radio. Belkin have cleverly incorporated both pieces of technology into one easy to use device that powers their iPhone or iPod and transmits its audio through their car FM radio. Although design wise it may not match your Apple iPhone or iPod, unless you have chosen the black models, the unit may have a dated look but Belkin have still somehow managed to minimize the size of the device which is perfect for users on the go. Installation? What installation! The device simply plugs into your relevant Apple product and once the unit has been installed, it’s only a matter of tuning in your FM radio in your car to receive audio. Belkin have also incorporated their ClearScan technology that not only scans for the best FM frequency but it also includes an optimizer and booster for some extremely clear audio. The screen of the unit is quite impressive and is extremely easy to read in a variety of different lightning. It has three buttons on the top, labeled M1 and M2 (switch between saved frequencies) and a Pro button which allows you to toggle between the different sound optimization filters. We tested the device with our Apple iPod Nano and also our Apple iPhone which worked perfectly without any quality issues whatsoever. Although it comes with built-in optimization filters, we did not need to use it during our travels through Melbourne City nor the country. In conclusion, for a recommended retail price of $99.95, there is little to complain about the TuneCast Audio with ClearScan from Belkin and it’s a great investment for those wanting to charge their Apple devices in the cars or listen to their MP3 music through their FM radio. Another fine idea from Belkin. |
