Top Gear Challenges 4

Featuring the best Challenges from Series 13 and 14, Top Gear: The Challenges 4 is perfect for those who want their Top Gear segments in easily digestible chunks of entertainment. However, for some reason, while watching these challenges, all I could think of was the cartoon, “The Whacky Races” because this is as whacked out as they come.

Don’t get me wrong, the challenges are not boring but some of the ideas they come up with are quite amazing such as finding the best Communist built car and then  racing it around Greenham Common airbase. Apart from two discs of entertaining challenges, Top Gear: The Challenges 4 also contains some fun special features to add to your mix of racing enjoyment.

Whether it’s racing a train from London to Edinburgh,  addressing criticism from a distraught viewer who believes that they don’t properly test cars anymore or skiers vs. The Audi RS6, I thoroughly enjoyed this eccentric collection of strange and kooky races. And once again, the rapport between Clarkson, Hammond and May make this a fun watch, especially the banter and competition between them.

Video/Audio & Special Features

On DVD, the video quality is quite good with sharp images, deep blacks and vibrant colours. There were no errors with the video such as artifacting and the sound is also crisp and clear. For special features, there’s some extended interviews, additional footage and a great feature with our favourite unknown driver, “The Stig”.

With 11 challenges from police cars to trains and McLaren F1 vs Bugatti, there is enough content on this disc to keep even the most staunchest of people entertained.

Definitely a must have for Top Gear purists!
