The Hills Run Red

Although clichéd at times, The Hills Red Run is actually a thoroughly entertaining horror movie that even stars Australia’s very own Sophie Monk. The story revolves around Tyler, a man who is seeking an urban myth, that of a banned and lost slasher movie called “The Hills Run Red” which involved a killer named Babyface. Tyler is hoping to turn this investigation into a documentary.

Interesting enough, the director also vanished with the movie over 20 years ago and only a few bits and pieces of this movie remains. Through Tyler’s investigation, he uncovers that Concannon, the director of the movie had a daughter called Alex (Sophie Monk) who works at a local strip club. Eventually, Alex agrees to help Tyler with his investigation and she shows Tyler and his film crew where it was filmed.

This is where the horror starts as the crew gets attacked by “Babyface” and Alex is abducted by this masked killer. With some great use of flashbacks to the “original” film, the blood and gore begins to flow. Although there are a few clichés in the movie, the story is well written and acted by all involved, especially by Monk who plays a disturbed young woman.
