Another John Wayne classic arrives on DVD with another all-star cast led by none other than the Duke himself, John Wayne. The tale focuses on the relationships of men and women who believe that they may never see their loved ones again during an intense 13-hour flight from Hawaii to San Francisco.

The cast truly features some Hollywood greats from the era which include talented actors such as Robert Stack, Claire Trevor and Phil Harris. Director William A. Wellman truly brings the viewer into this title as relationships between people who would probably never have met in real life create some definitely intense and emotional scenes. Once again John Wayne brings this ensemble together and the "everyday" hero comes to the rescue in classic John Wayne style.

For a film that is over 50 years old, the DVD quality is outstanding and Paramount have done an impressive job at enhancing the video quality. One cannot but help appreciate the restoration of both video and sound, even though the plot is from the days of yesterday where people could smoke on planes and even smuggle guns onto the plane.

The DVD also comes with a variety of special features such an an in-depth commentary by Leonard Maltin and William Wellman. There are also a variety of short featurettes and even the original Theatrical Trailer. Definitely recommend to lovers of old Hollywood or those that want to see the Duke in action. Brilliant!
