Directed by Takao Nakano and starring Sola Aoi, Risa Kasumi, Mari Sakurai, Tamayo and lo Aikawa, this over the top Zombie movie is the latest Eastern Eye title to grace Australian shores. Featuring a bevy of Japanese beauties, it's fairly obviously what the viewer can expect from a film called Big Tits Zombie! Given that we've established the fact that there is probably a good probably that we'll see some naked females and that we'll also see the walking undead, Big Tits Zombie is far from a serious film and is actually quite an amusing and low budget flick. Its main selling points are titillation and horror!
The story of Big Zits Zombie revolves around a group of strippers, working in a very very quiet strip club. One night during their repetitive nights of boredom, they discover a secret passage in their dressing room. As opposed to leading to a peak room for their boss, it actually leads them to the Book of the Dead. So what do our strippers do? They decide to read the book out loud and before you know it, these strippers are violently destroying zombies in order to save the world. Apart from the occasional female nudity with some true eye candy, thanks to to Sola Aoi and Risa Kasumi, the nudity almost plays like a bad Benny Hill script with tacky sound effects to boot. Not that I'm sure most male viewers were complaining but it's quite hilarious to see and hear. Even the special effects are quite funny and verge on really bad schlock horror. It's almost like the Zombies are out of some Rock Eisteddfod high school production as they stumble along and cause mayhem.
But this low budget Japanese splatterfest has one really cool highlight and that is the battles that are just as over the top as our face painted zombies and sqealing strippers. Needless to say, it's a treat to watch this absurd story unravel that contains a healthy dose of humour, bad acting and the occasional glimpse of flesh. At times, Big Zits Zombie is like Shaun of the Dead gone wrong as we see Zombies getting up to all sorts of mischief like playing ping-pong that still has me scratching my head as to why? Nonetheless, Big Zits Zombie is a fun film and if you want a retro treat, the movie comes with the traditional red/blue 3D glasses of yesteryear which turns Big Zits Zombie into a true old school festival of bad taste... but ultimately quite enjoyable!
Video is presented in widescreen with sharp images, deep blacks and vibrant colours. Audio supports 5.1 and does sound rather decent. There are even some special features included that include the original trailer and even the making of Big Tits Zombies if you couldn't get enough the first time around. Enough said.. this movie is damn cool! |
