Will Ferrell is a comedic legend and he once again returns at what he does best in this entertaining sports comedy called "Semi-Pro". Ferrell stars as Jackie Moon, the owner, coach and head player of an American Basketball team called the Flint Tropics. Based in the mid 70's, Semi-Pro is about a group of sporting misfits made good and is written by Scot Armstrong (Old School) and directed by Kent Alterman. This is Alterman's directing debut, as he's previously produced such critically-acclaimed fare as Little Children and A History of Violence. Semi-Pro featured action, romance, drama and more importantly comedy, however when Jackie discovers that the division they play in is soon about to be dissolved, a plan is hatched and if he can make his team number one, there is a chance that they can be amalgamated into another a higher league. The star of the movie is Ferrell himself who does a variety of stunts and promotions for his team that is quite entertaining and quite stupid at times... but that is the magic of this actor. Woody Harrelson also stars in Semi-Pro as a washed up champion who eventually becomes the teams coach and assists in them in their play strategy and cliché and cliché, things go from good to bad and good again. Although not as entertaining as Blades of Glory, Semi-Pro is still a worthy watch on Blu-Ray with superb picture and audio quality plus a plethora of special features that will keep you in hysterics. The "Love Me Sexy" music video by Ferrell is pure Champaign comedy and some of the deleted scenes are quite entertaining. Perfect picture quality, great audio, Semi-Pro is a classic!
