The Sudden Impact franchise has been around for quite some time and "Sudden Impact" was the 80's attempt to reintroduce Dirty Harry to existing and new audiences. Even though Eastwood has aged since his earlier years of playing Detective Harry Callaghan, he is still a force to be reckoned with and has this great onscreen presence that has only been matched by a few people. In Sudden Impact, Callaghan once again is called to duty as he investigates the murders of a variety of men. These murders are as a result of Jennifer Spencer (Sondra Locke) who was also romantically linked to Eastwood during this movie and is hunting down the men who raped her and her younger sister during a visit to a beach 10 years ago. Once again the movie contains some great one-liners from Eastwood and the star of the disc is the digitally re-mastered video and audio quality that has never seen Dirty Harry looking this good. Featuring sharp images and good black levels, the flaws are quite sparse and match that with Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and you have a truly impressive looking and sounding movie. The extras include commentary by Richard Schicken, a documentary entitled "The Evolution of Clint Eastwood" which follows Eastwood from actor to director that nicely rounds this Blu-Ray disc. |
