NINTENDO GIVES PLAYERS THE CHANCE TO GET FIT FOR FREE WITH Wii FIT U FOR 31 DAYS

19th September – Nintendo is offering Wii U owners a chance to download a 31-days trial version of Wii Fit U for free. Starting on 2nd November, Wii U owners can download a complete trial version of the game and get a head start on their New Year’s fitness goals by trying out all the activities found in the game for 31 days – at no cost. All you need is a Wii Balance Board and a Wii U system with a broadband internet connection.* Fitness fans can unlock the time restriction of Wii Fit U by simply synching a Fit Meter, available at retail separately, to the game. Nintendo announced the special offer along with a number of items related to active gaming during a Nintendo Direct video. To view the Nintendo Direct in its entirety, visit http://www.nintendo.com.au/nintendodirect.

The 31-days trial version of Wii Fit U will be available to download free of charge from Nintendo eShop between 2nd November 2013 and 31st January 2014 and will work for 31 days from the day it is first played. Using the software, users can stay active with 77 different activities, including 19 new training activities, many of which take advantage of the Wii U GamePad controller. Users who want to continue using Wii Fit U beyond the 31-days trial period can unlock the time restriction by synching a Fit Meter accessory (available at retail) with their trial version of the Wii Fit U software. This will allow them to continue playing Wii Fit U for an unlimited time. The Fit Meter will be released on 2nd November in black and at a suggested retail price of AU $29.95/NZ $39.95.

The Fit Meter accessory is much more than a pedometer – it’s an activity meter that tracks a wide range of everyday activity. It records not only the number of steps a user has taken, but it also takes into account the intensity of those steps – was the user running or walking? The Fit Meter also measures altitude, so wearers get credit for climbing stairs or walking uphill. All of these data points combined provide users with an accurate overview of their day’s activity, including a detailed calculation of the number of calories they burned. This data can then be transferred wirelessly to Wii Fit U via the Wii U GamePad with just a touch of a button. The Fit Meter transforms users’ everyday lives into workouts, encouraging them to get active and stay active.

Wii Fit U features many of the strength training, yoga and fun fitness games that have made the Wii Fit series so popular. Plus, there are new games that combine the Wii Balance Board and Wii U GamePad, including new dance routines such as hip-hop, locking and salsa that work out various parts of the body through simple dance moves. The game also gives players more ways to create their own custom workout routines. Users can also create or join a Miiverse Gym Community to share tips and support with other Wii Fit U users who have similar goals. Or people can create closed communities made up exclusively of their friends. The communities will help people stay motivated by giving them a venue to discuss their fitness progress with others.

For those who choose not to download the 31-days trial version, on 7th December Wii Fit U launches as a packaged game in two sets. One set includes the game disc and a green Fit Meter, while the other set includes the game disc, a green Fit Meter and a white Wii Balance Board.  The paid download version of the game will also be available on Nintendo eShop from 1st February 2014.

Some other announcements today included:

Wii Sports Club

The five beloved sports from the original Wii Sports – bowling, tennis, baseball, boxing and golf – are making a dramatic and competitive return on Wii U. The games are being released individually as downloads on Nintendo eShop featuring HD graphics, enhanced controls via Wii MotionPlus technology, as well as a much-requested online multiplayer versus mode, so users with broadband internet access can face off against competitors online. And that’s where the “Club” part of Wii Sports Club comes into play. Players will be registered to regional clubs and will be able to interact with one another via Miiverse during matches. People will be able to play casually against members of their own club, or take on members of rival clubs to increase their club rankings.

Tennis and Bowling will be the first two sports available from Nintendo eShop on 8th November, with Boxing, Baseball and Golf scheduled to launch in the months ahead. Wii U owners who download Wii Sports Club will get a trial pass that will let them play any available games for a 24-hour period from when the Wii Sports Club game is started. Once the trial period ends, players can purchase a Day Pass on Nintendo eShop for AU $2.60 and NZ $3.40  to play all available sports for a 24-hour period, or can buy permanent access to individual sports for AU $13.00 and NZ $17.00 each.

STAN, CARTMAN, KYLE AND KENNY WERE IN SYDNEY FOR ONE DAY ONLY

SYDNEY, Australia – To celebrate the 16th season of South Park, available on DVD now, Stan, Cartman, Kyle and Kenny were out and about in Sydney yesterday.

The four boys were denied entry to Porky’s strip club in Kings Cross, but drowned their sorrows in a pie with peas at Harry’s Café De Wheels. They followed the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and had a photo with the koalas at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo, and practiced their Paris Hilton pose at Bondi Beach.

Over the past 16 seasons, the cult show has explored the most controversial topics and featured a who’s who of popular culture.  From President Obama to OJ Simpson, Osama Bin Laden to Jennifer Lopez not to forget Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson and Oprah Winfrey. The 16th season is no exception, with current events top of the show’s list. Already a winner of 3 Emmys®, South Park’s 16th season covers everything from Kony 2012 to Honey Boo Boo, with this season earning the show a nomination for the 9th episode, ‘Raising the Bar’.

NOTICE: Diablo III Auction House Closure

We are writing tell you about an important change to Diablo III: we’re going to be removing the gold and real-money auction house system from the game.

When we initially designed and implemented the auction house system, the driving goal was to provide a convenient and secure system for trades. But after much review and player feedback, it became increasingly clear that despite the benefits of the AH system and the fact that many players around the world use it, it ultimately undermines Diablo’s core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot.

We’re working out the details of how the auction house system will be shut down, but we wanted to share the news as soon as we made the decision in order to give everyone as much advance notice as possible. Please note that the final shutdown will occur on March 18, 2014. We will keep everyone informed as we work through this process, but feel free to check out our blog post on the subject, and stay tuned to Diablo 3.com for further details.

MADMAN PRESENTS A FRESH SLATE OF TRANFORMERS PRODUCT ROLLING OUT late 2013

Following the revelation that ‘Transformers 4’ will be titled Transformers: Age of Extinction (and of course, that there will be Dinobots), Madman is proud to announce that a new collection of fan-favourite Transformers releases, consisting of the Transformers Animated series and the Transformers Unicron Trilogy, will begin hitting DVD shelves and digital platforms from November, 2013.

The first release on November 20 will be the complete first season of Transformers Animated, the 2007 marquee Cartoon Network series which was the basis for Hasbro’s toyline of the same year leading into the release of the first Transformers live action movie.

All Transformers Animated releases will be available in widescreen on DVD, as well as HD across digital platforms. Madman will also be exclusively releasing the third season of Transformers Animated, which has been previously unavailable anywhere else in the world.

Closely following in December, Madman will unleash the first stage of the Unicron Trilogy with the first collection of Transformers Armada, the 2002 series which featured staples Megatron, Optimus Prime and Starscream alongside fan-favourites such as Hot Shot and introduced the world to the ‘Mini-Cons’.

Consisting of Transformers: Armada, Transformers: Energon and Transformers: Cybertron – and named after the big bad villain featured across all three series – the Unicron Trilogy was a collaborative reboot of the Transformers universe, conceived out of America and animated and created in Japan by the likes of Studio Gonzo (Full Metal Panic, Hellsing), Actas Inc (Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children) and 3D graphics specialists, Studio A-CAT.

The series which followed Transformers: Beast Wars, the Unicron Trilogy features 3D computer generated robots and vehicles, along with epic anime-style story arcs.

Both Transformers Animated and the three seasons of the Transformers Unicron Trilogy have previously aired on Australian television on Cartoon Network and Channel 10.

Madman will continue to release further Transformers Animated and Transformers Unicron Trilogy collections on DVD and digital platforms into 2014, with a new release assured for each month leading up to May – ahead of Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, which will hit cinemas in late June, 2014.

This fresh slate of fan-anticipated releases further cements Madman’s long standing reputation as experts on Transformers lore and will perfectly compliment their extensive catalogue, which includes Transformers Generation 1, Transformers Japan Generation 1 (Headmasters, Super God Masterforce and Victory) Transformers: Prime and Transformers: Beast Wars.
