The Call Blu-ray Review
Summary: In conclusion, The Call is a great movie to watch on a Saturday night that will have you gripping your arm rests at the high intensity of the film. Halle Berry is perfect as call centre operator Jordan Turner and really made the film more than just a cliché of ideas but something very engaging.
Halle Berry stars in this captivating thriller about an emergency services call centre operator named Jordan Turner who becomes caught in the web of a heinous serial killer. When Jordan receives a phone call from a teenager Leah Templeton (Evie Thompson), she desperately informs her that she is trying to escape from a man (Michael Eklund) who wants to kill her. Unfortunately, the conversation is disconnected and Jordan immediately returns her call. As a result, the killer then hears the girls phone and she becomes his next victim.
Shocked to the core that Jordan was involved in the murder of Leah, it takes several months for her to come to grips of what happened. However when she returns to work, Jordan receives another call from teenager Casey Welson (Breslin) who appears to be stalked by the same killer that murdered Leah.
From here, Jordan is involved in another deadly game of cat and mouse as she attempts to save the life of Casey. Even though The Call is a little clichéd at times, it actually works well as a thriller and had us on the edge of our seats, not knowing what is about to happen. Berry is perfect as Jordan as are her other actors which creates this realistic thriller.
On Blu-ray, the video quality is outstanding with crisp and sharp images. Colours are well balanced and blacks are deep. There is no artifacting or noise whatsoever and the skin tones are perfect. The DTS-HS Master Audio 5.1 compliments the video and story perfectly. Audio is balanced well and the music really enhances the atmosphere of the film. Add a wealth of special features and these give the viewer a great insight into behind the scenes of how The Call was made.
