STAR-SPANGLED STAND-UP US COMEDY SHOWCASE RETURNS TO SYDNEY + MELBOURNE IN MAY 2018 WITH A BRAND NEW STAR-STUDDED LINE-UP!

Following the success of the first ever Star-Spangled Stand-Up tour in June 2017, Frontier Comedy are back with a brand new hand-selected and star-spangled line-up of three of the funniest comedians the States has to offer: Brent Morin, Ramy Youssef and Josh Johnson.

All known as headline comics in the US, this will be the first time Australia gets to see them live, playing four nights at Enmore Theatre’s Wild Oats Wine Bar for Sydney Comedy Festival (Thu 17 – Sun 20 May) and two nights at The Comic’s Lounge in Melbourne (Fri 25 and Sat 26 May). Catch these three fantastic comics in action when they make their Australian debut in one stellar line-up packed with nonstop laughs!

At iconic Hollywood comedy club The Improv on Melrose in October 2016, Frontier Comedy hosted a showcase to find new comedy superstars to tour down under. The first of its kind, the showcase consisted of 14 of the hottest new US comedians submitted by LA’s major comedy agencies and management, and was hosted by Adelaidean Amos Gill with a closing spot from fellow Aussie Jim Jefferies.

From the artists on the showcase, three comedians (Al Jackson, Matthew Broussard and Megan Gailey) were selected for a 2017 showcase tour of Australia, with a plan to continue to tour them individually from 2018 and beyond. Now this “exhibition of total hilarity” (Lot’s Wife) is back with a brand-new lineup – Brent Morin, Josh Johnson and Ramy Youssef!

Los Angeles-based comedian, actor, writer and one of Variety’s ‘10 Comics To Watch’ Brent Morin is best known for his one-hour stand-up special on Netflix, I’m Brent Morin and his starring role in the NBC sitcom Undateable alongside Chris D’Elia. Brent has also appeared on Chelsea Lately, CONAN, Comedy Central, Brooklyn 99, The McCarthy’s and Ground Floor. Brent can next be seen starring in David Haskell’s feature The Outdoorsman, which made its world premiere at the Austin Film Festival last month.

Josh Johnson, most recently featured on Kevin Hart’s Hart of the City on Comedy Central, was named one of Comedy Central’s ‘Comics to Watch’ in 2015 and one of the Just For Laughs Festival’s ‘New Faces’ in 2016. He is a former writer and performer on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he also made his late-night stand-up debut. As a stand-up, Josh has performed at clubs, colleges and festivals across the US, including Just For Laughs and the New York Comedy Festival, and has appeared on CONAN , @midnight with Chris Hardwick, and his recently released Comedy Central half-hour special and album I Like You. Josh is currently a writer on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

New-Jersey born, LA-based comedian and director Ramy Youssef has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert , Mr Robot and Nick at Nite’s See Dad Run with Scott Baio. Ramy has also just finished filming Gus Van Sant’s Don’t Worry. His sketch group Inside Joke Films has toured internationally and has a large presence on Youtube. Ramy is also the Artistic Director for the New York Arab American Comedy Festival and the founder of the Middle Eastern sketch group Sketchy Arabs.

Don’t miss your chance to catch these three fantastic comics in action when they hit Australia for the first time in one stellar line-up packed with nonstop laughs!

Here’s just a small taste of what the critics have said:

“Star-Spangled Stand-Up is a great concept for ‘road-testing’ overseas talent and if you’re a fan of live comedy, it’s worth giving these US funny guys, a fair Aussie go.”

“With the proliferation of international comedy festivals on the rise, audiences are getting to know a broader range of comedic talent than ever before. We all still have our favourites though, so how do ‘stand-ups’ without overseas profile break into the world touring circuit? Frontier Comedy seems to have hit upon the answer with its latest venture, Star-Spangled Stand-Up.”
