Simple but fun!

The Nintendo Switch is quite an ingenious console as not only does it allow you to have home console gaming on the go thanks to its portable gaming tablet but its versatility opens it up for some really fun multiplayer gaming in the real world thanks to the Joy-Cons. There’s also another reason to own this console and that other reason is of course The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which is quite a legendary experience in its self. Sorry, I digress… we’re here to talk about the very clever and I do mean clever, Snipperclips: Cut It Out, Together!

So although Zelda is an awesome game (sorry), it’s not a multiplayer experience but when it comes to two player games, this is where Snipperclips: Cut It Out, Together! comes into the picture that is developed by SFB Games and published by Nintendo. Sure, the game can be played solo but if you want that true party experience, the more players you have (up to 4), the merrier your experience becomes and trust me, it does become so much better with other players.

The goal behind Snipperclips: Cut It Out, Together! is move your animated shapes to complete the puzzles, while cutting pieces off your partner to help solve the mystery like making a certain shape, popping balloons, moving pencils, interacting with puzzles in the environment, making shapes plus other wonderful and colourful mechanics. But the genius behind Snipperclips is how simplistic the gaming mechanics are that makes this a thoroughly enjoyable experience with others.

It’s almost like some crazy version of Tetris that has mated with a Japanese TV show. Add in some amusing mini-games like basketball, air hockey and even a deathmatch mode and Snipperclips is a great distraction, especially if you’re in the real-world waiting for a taxi with a friend or waiting for your name to be called at an appointment with a family member. Add in over 40 levels and there’s definitely quite some variety to be found in this game that will keep you coming back for more.

The graphics behind Snipperclips: Cut It Out, Together! are also quite simplistic but it really suits the gaming mechanics with its stylised look. Level design is quite clever as are the puzzles that are matched well with the colourful graphics. Add in some fun sound effects and a rather enjoyable musical score and Snipperclips succeeds at turning something simply into a very memorable experience on the Nintendo Switch.

Final Thoughts?

The gaming spirit behind Snipperclips: Cut It Out, Together! is the engagement factor behind its simplistic yet clever gaming mechanics that draws you into this crazy little world. It’s also a game that can be played with up to four people, however the perfect number is two as you both work together (and sometimes against each other) in order to achieve the desired outcomes. So if you’ve played those addictive smartphone games, Snipperclips: Cut It Out, Together! takes this concept and adds a much needed external controller as you flip, cut and smash out the solutions required and it’s a title that can be played by all ages!
