QMF 2018 Emerging Artist Grant Recipients
Queenscliff Music Festival is pleased to reveal the recipients of the Emerging Artist Grant (EAG) for 2018. EAG is an initiative funded by the festival to assist the development and completion of projects by local musicians for up to $10,000 per year, with approximately $4,000 stemming from the contributions of Friends of the Festival.
QMF recognises that the Bellarine Peninsula is a hotbed of new music talent and holds a higher share of musicians than it should. They also acknowledge that one of the biggest challenges facing young musicians is sourcing money to get their projects up and running – without which the artist has little chance of gaining recognition.
With this always in mind, QMF is proud to be able to support local artists MDRN Love and Fenn Wilson with their upcoming recording and touring projects this year to the tune of $5,000 each. Both artists will also be appearing at this year’s festival.
Jack Harman from MDRN Love says “The Emerging Artists Grant will give us the much needed financial support to give our music the best possible opportunity to succeed and reach new audiences by supporting and promoting our tour, which will follow the release of our next EP. It will allow us to promote the Geelong region’s emerging music scene”.
Fenn Wilson will use the EAG to complete his second full length album as well as to fund promotion, pressing and touring of the album.
The EAG is now in its 8th year, and as you can see by the quality of its alumni, all have gone on to establish successful music careers:

The Queenscliff Music Festival is also proud to announce local 18 year old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Heath Robertson as the inaugural recipient of the Alison McKenzie Mentor Program. Heath will have the opportunity to to hang out with and be mentored by an artist appearing at QMF 2018. The Alison McKenzie Mentor Program was created by the QMF Board to honour Alison who passed away from Breast cancer in 2016. Alison was a long serving QMF Board member and was instrumental in establishing & running the EAG from its inception in 2011. She was devoted to the development of local young musicians and QMF are committed to continuing her work in this area.
The Queenscliff Music Festival 2018 will be held from 23-25 November.
