Oz Comic-Con reveals Australian Championships of Cosplay 2016 trophy
Oz Comic-Con has revealed the national winner’s trophy for the 2016 Australian Championships of Cosplay, giving Australian cosplay superstars an image to stick on their vision boards as they prepare their handcrafted entries.
Along with the enviable trophy, the national winner will also win a place in the Global Championships of Cosplay at C2E2 in Chicago next year, attempting to secure a back-to-back global win for Australia. Major Sam, the 2015 Australian Championships of Cosplay winner, took out the global title with her stunning Julietta Necromancer costume in Chicago last month.
The West and South Australian state finals of the Australian Championships of Cosplay were held at Oz Comic-Con Perth and Adelaide respectively over the first two weekends of April, with the winners set to represent their states at the national finals in Brisbane this September. These winners will be joined by the Victorian, New South Wales and Queensland state finalists who will be selected at the Melbourne (June 11-12), Sydney (September 10-11) and Brisbane (September 17-18) Oz Comic-Con events.
