Value for money!

The new LS25 eSports Gaming Headset has been designed for competitive gaming and no matter what platform (PC, Xbox One/S/X, PS4/Pro/PSVR or Nintendo Switch), this product will cater for your needs. Besides the excellent audio quality for games, the unit boasts clear audio for chat thanks to the dual microphone system with a unidirectional boom mic so that your team will be able to hear you when the firefight starts on the battlefield that also reduces background sound.

So out of the box, the first that you might notice is the build quality of the LS25 that not only feels quite sturdy but its design screams gamer (especially its red highlights) and more importantly, it’s quite comfortable to wear, even with the longest of gaming sessions. Supporting the comfort of the LS25 are the advanced memory foam cushions which add an element of noise cancellation. As the headphones are an over-ear unit and with the recent hot weather we’ve had in Victoria, I still found them quite comfortable to wear which is definitely a bonus! Oh… the LS25 weigh in at just 318 grams which is quite lightweight.

Given that, the headphones have been designed for eSports and LucidSound cleverly embadded the controls into the earcups so you are not fiddling with some inline remote control. This includes a rotating outer ring with the left ear cups for microphone and the right for volume and although it does take some time in becoming familiar with their placement, after using the LS25 a few times, it becomes second nature. For microphone quality, it was okay for its price point.

Of course, it’s all about audio and the LS25 comes with quite powerful 50mm speakers which have neodymium magnets incorporated into the design to help with levels and bass, without distortion, including decent directional sound. We tried a variety of games with the LS25 from single-player adventures such as Assassin’s Creed Origins to RiME and to multiplayer worlds that included Call of Duty WWII and Star Wars Battlefront II that with the headphones, helped immerse us into these diverse environments. The latest Need for Speed game from EA also sounded spectacular!

So whether it was the subtleties of the living breathing world of Origins or the Star Wars themed battles to the majestic soundtrack of RiME, the audio was crystal clear that really opened up the experience and allowed us to pinpoint our enemies or puzzles for that matter. So whether we were playing games, listening to music, streaming 4K or watching Blu-ray movies, the LS25 excelled at audio (especially its price point) and for the most part was distortion free (unless you have your volume too high) thanks to the 50mm speakers.

It should be mentioned that the LS25 will work with just about all audio devices such as consoles and mobiles. There is even a 1.2metre long 3.5mm cable and a massive 3metre cable with a PC splitter that allows you to connect to PC’s that have their audio and microphone split. So it’s great that the designers of the LS25 have thought outside the box and of course increase the scope of what these headphones can connect too!

Final Thoughts?

All in all, the LS25 eSports Gaming Headset is a well-produced product from LucidSound that are not only comfortable to wear and light but create some clear audio. It’s definitely good value for money, particularly from the notion that it can be used on all consoles straight out of the box. Furthermore, it provides two different types of microphones for console/PC gaming or mobile and in the end, the audio component of the LS25 ticks all the right boxes!
