Mousing Progidy!

Welcome to the G403 Prodigy Wireless Gaming Mouse from Logitech that supports both wired and wireless connections. As you’re aware, this mouse has been designed for the gamer and with that in mind, its creators ensure that the end-user has that additional edge when it comes to winning in their virtual universe. It’s also quite affordably priced and feels quite good to use.

This well designed mouse boasts a 1 millisecond response time (8 times faster than traditional mice) plus the ability to change the weight in order to fine-tune your ‘weapon’ of choice. Add in 6 programmable buttons plus over 16.8 million colours to customise the lighting on the G403 and you have everything you need in your gaming artillery.

Installation of the Logitech G403 was a breeze which required you to insert the wireless dongle into your PC which then allowed Windows 10 to automatically detected the mouse. Another thing I noticed about the G403 was how comfortable it was to use and its ergonomic design allowed me to use this mouse religiously while I played games such as Star Wars Battlefront, StarCraft 2 and non-gaming needs such as Adobe Photoshop, surfing the net or just general windows use.

Furthermore, the rubber grips on the mouse definitely give you additional control while using this mouse which is needed when the action heats up on the battlefield or if I’m doing something extremely fiddly in Photoshop. Another great feature of the G403 is that it glides quite smoothly as well. I was also impressed by the accuracy of the mouse which can be tweaked via the Logitech Gaming Software (100MB install), including the coloured lighting on it.

You can also change the sensitivity of the mouse via the button above the scroll wheel or through the software for additional tweaks. In term of overall design, the G403 is quite a unassuming looking gaming mouse and I think its more Spartan look definitely helps because it feels so natural to use. The coloured LED of the mouse (which looks great) is featured in the right places such as the Logitech logo and scroll wheel on the top of the mouse. It almost gives it this military inspired look.

Buttons are well placed without the need for force when clicking and the scroll wheel works extremely well, including the two main buttons on the face of the product. As mentioned, you can adjust the weight of the mouse thanks to the removable weight but I kept it installed as I like my gaming mice a little heavier. What I like about this mouse is that it feels like a regular mouse but under its hood, it boasts some brilliant responsiveness. Then you have the colour schemes which looks quite impressive in a darker room as it has this almost ethereal feel to it.

Final Thoughts?

The Logitech G403 Prodigy is a mouse that feels familiar but definitely has some grunt under its hood. It’s well designed, feels great in your hand and has excellent button clicks plus a responsiveness that is really needed in the gaming world. Furthermore, you can use the mouse for everyday use as well and more importantly, it’s quite affordably priced at around $129AUD (October 2016).
