Jump * Start Advanced - Kindergarten is a great program for assisting your child in taking that all important next step in their education.

This title covers a number of topics, ably taught by Mr. Hopsalot in his kindergarten class. With the assistance of the loveable characters in the game, your child will learn the basics necessary to make the transition to primary school.

Jump * Start Advanced - Kindergarten features a many number of activities that increases your child's educational skills. These features are;

  • Counting & Quantities
  • Letter Recognition
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Similarities & Differences
  • Critical Thinking
  • Sentence Building
  • Vocabulary
  • Phonics
  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Spelling
  • Science
  • Patterns
  • Music
  • Art

The tasks that your little ones need to undertake are varied and a lot of fun for them to undertake. The Jump*Start Characters make it fun and easy to understand.

Graphics are always a strong point with the Jump*Start series and Advanced Kindergarten is no exception to this rule. Children love singing and will remember things taught in song far quicker than normal rote teaching. Kindergarten abounds with catchy songs and tunes that your kids will love.

As with other Jump*Start products there is a progression area where parents can check how their children are performing whilst using the software and it is the only weak point of what I would consider to otherwise be a pretty strong title.

Children start the game using their own name and by rights should be using their own login when playing so the game can accurately record how they are doing. However kids that the software is targeted at will just be wanting to play and not always take the time out to make sure it is under their own name. This way the scores are not 100% accurate unless the parent starts the title for the child.

Also another slight point is that the scores are readily available for the other children to check out. I believe that this feature should be somehow password protected or have a parental lock on it so only Mum and Dad have access.

Jump*Start Kindergarten is a delight to play and will provide hours upon hours of fun for your children. I do believe that it covers many of the topics that your children will find useful before beginning primary school, and possibly enough that they will have a head start in kindergarten.

As always, the system requirements for this program should be within the means of most parent/budgets. A low end Pentium or Apple G3 is more than adequate to run the program and should make this game accessible for most demographics.

System Requirements (PC)
- Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
- Pentium (or equivalent) 233Mhz or faster
- 64MB of RAM
- 12X CD-ROM Drive
- 100MB available on Hard Drive
- 16bit colour
- 640x480 screen resolution
- Windows compatible sound card

System Requirements (Macintosh)
- PowerMac G3 233Mhz or faster
- OS 8.6, 9.2.1, 10.1.2
- 64MB of RAM
- 16X CD-ROM drive
- 100MB available on hard drive
- 16bit colour
- 640x480 screen

Jump*Start Advanced Kindergarten was enjoyed by our young group of playtesters and required only minimal input from adults. This is, in our opinion, what make the series so fantastic. Recommended!
