A g/f told me last night she knows 2 ladies who have sustained back injuries using the Wii Fit/ Balance Board

I'd like to know if this is isolated just to these 2 women?

I think you need to be very careful and follow instructions carefully  Undecided

any thoughts?

hmmm - s'pose i'll have to get one to find out now  Cheesy

from a practical point of view - it is a form of exercise and therefore you need to be careful not to overdo it  Wink

I have a balance board and leant it to a friend who had a motorbike accident last year. He's using it to strengthen his back muscles. I think if you do appropriate warmups and start lightly you can gain strength. They must have been doing snowboarding or something to do some major damage.  Wouldn't surprise me.

No, it's not safe!  It will make you skinny and shun chocolate!  Anything that does that is purely evil in my books.

They actually work but you need to be motivated. In tems of fitness, I much prefer EA's Active which is less Nintendo cartoon fun and more serious. Just be careful not to strain yourself, I was sore for days afterwards... thinking I was a man and playing it on medium level!

Hmm... Wii Fit is safe but those blasted Nunchucks are not!

Let's see, an almost broken PLASMA TV, a smashed Glass and almost a black eye for my partner and no... it was not on accident Smiley But I do get quite competitive when I play!

I dunno whether this is still on but I saw it for 0.1K ($100) at JB-Hifi,
I'd've bought it had I not already bought it for $30 more 2 weeks prior.

I'm new to the Wii fit but enjoy it immensely.  The only time I've had a problem is the aerobics, tripped on the board rather than stepped on it while trying to watch the screen at the same time.  I'm obviously unco.  The unco's of this world have to be careful whatever they do. Practice makes perfect though   Cheesy

is it anything like step arobics?? if it is I'd be ok with it, although hubby would have to learn not to walk so close while I was doing the knee lifts  Wink

Whoever injuries themselves from wii fit are just idiots. Anything is safe as long as you follow the instructions and don't do anything stupid, you'll be fine. Like running with scissors, its safe as long as you hold it right and run away from people.

You just have to know your limits, and then it's safe
