Im not worried either. There is 109 million people in Mexico so the amount that have died compared to their population size it doesnt seem to be something to panic about....I wish no one had of died but I wonder how many die of the flu there each year anyway.. the media can blow things out of proportion sometimes

I caught Swine Flu! But I stood in a smoke-filled room for 24 hours... and I was cured!

There's 12 cases in Australia now, skyrocketed from zero about a week ago. The worst bit - some of them live near me. Yikes.
Is it still headlining news in America?

I AM IN THE CENTRAL WEST OF NSW AND TONIGHT ON PRIME I HEARD THE FIRST SWINE FLU CASE IN DUBBO,AUSTRALIA. I HOPE IT NEVER MUTATES INTO A SERIOUS DESEASE. MY PARENTS ARE WORRIED,THEY HAVE BOUGHT P2 MASKS IN CASE, THESE MASKS KEEP OUT VIRIS. THEY HAVE STOCKED UP ON TIN FOODS. WATER ETC. DO YOU KNOW I HEARD SOMEWHERE THAT THE 1918 SPANISH FLU WAS THE SWINE FLU THEN, WELL THATS WHAT SOMEONE TOLD ME. LOOK IT UP ON INTERNET MAYBE YOU CAN FIND OUT MORE. OUR BIGGEST HEADLINE IN AUSTRALIA NOW. ON THE INTERNET TONIGHT I READ ABOUT A TOPIC DOOMSDAY TALK ON SWINE FLU AND HOW IF IT GOT OUT OF CONTROL MASSIVE HERE, PARLIAMENT HOUSE IN CANBERRA WOULD SHUT FOR AWHILE. I WONDER IF IT WILL AFFECT SCHOOLS OUT HERE CLOSING FOR AWHILE,HOPE NOT. MY KIDS AT HOME WOULD DRIVE ME CRAZY.

I think our friends at the media are oversensationalising the flu, reminds me of the bird blue. Although it's always better to err on the side of caution

I agree I think they are oversensationalising it too. If it mutates in to a bigger disease then I will worry

the story about the disease is bigger than the disease itself right now.
There is the potential for this to be huge, but not yet.
I was actually reading last night that the cost for people who don't know of a direct link to someone with swine flu is $93 to be tested...this means that people are not going to get tested if they can't afford it so actually gives it a greater chance to spread. I do wonder how many undiagnosed cases are out there.

When its no more harmless that a ordinary flu it does seem unfair to pay $93 to find out …. especially if they tell you that you don’t have it

I think this is getting quite scary..... yesterday Im sure I heard there were around 180 cases across australia. It says to stay indoors if you have it but wouldnt you have to first leave the house to find out if it is swine flu that you have??? I have five children and am really worried when anyone is showing any signs of a cold or flu.

Yeah, that makes sense - stay in the house if you have it - that way you don't get diagnosed and the figures don't increase as fast as they might otherwise.
I think a lot more people have it than have been officially diagnosed - so we'll never see the real figures for this - when people are being told to stay away from the doctors and emergency unless they are seriously ill a lot of cases will be missed.
Unfortunately i don't think there's an easy solution for this - the medical system is overwhelmed with people panicking now - if this turns into a full blown epidemic the infrastructure is not in place to cope - the people who have been quarantined already are not being helped to even get food in many cases.
We can only hope this doesnt escalate into a major health emergency.

I read this morning that you should call the doctor surgery before you go there if you think you have it so they can be prepared (put you in a separate room to everyone else while you wait) which would make sense.
