Utawarerumono Collection

Utawarerumono, besides being an extremely difficult "word" to type is the masterfully collected edition by Madman which revolves around a man called Hakuoro who has been chosen to be the leader of a forsaken people.

Saved by a young girl named Eluluu, Hakuoro awoke in a strange realm that boasts strange creatures, demonic gods and an oppressive government that burdens the populace.

Although the series does start slow, the creators cleverly draw the viewer into this strange world as they introduce the characters and midway through the series, the viewer realises that there is an entire world ready to be explored that contains subplots against subplots.

Of course the star of the show is Hakuoro himself who uses his tactics as a fighter and diplomat to progress the storyline. I must admit that the world that the developers have created contains a vast amount of history and even though certain parts appear "goofy" and "clichéd", the intense story still manages to draw viewer back for a totally thrilling experience. Definitely one of the better anime series around!
