Tim and Eric: Awesome Show, Great Job! 4

Dickheads! That's the word that comes to mind when I watch Tim and Eric. But even though they are dickheads, their skits have a habit of growing on you. Not like a wart but more like a comedy wart because even though I loathed them at the start, I was busting my guts with laughter by the time it finished.

The comedy of Tim and Eric is weird because one episode makes sense and then the next episode has some political satire. It's like what the @#$%? Then you get something that almost makes you vomit in disgust but by the great comedy gods, these guys are truly funny.

But all this comedy comes at a price and if you are easily offended or even if you love South Park or Jackass, some skits are way out there even for you. This is also the charm of Tim and Eric: Awesome Show, Great Job! because their comedy is actually quite in-depth and if you break down every skit, there is more information than you first realised and these subtleties are very clever.

Another interesting aspect of this release is that Tim and Eric actually show a mirror to society and their skits mirror what kind of ridiculous world we now live. The skits may make no sense whatsoever but if you give it a chance, it all comes together... which is quite scary in itself.

Video, Audio & Special Features

The video and audio quality is presented in 4:3 with Dolby Digital 5.1. If you have seen any of the other Adult Swim series, than Tim and Eric is no exception to the rule. Sharp images, vibrant colours and a minimal amount of artifacting.

However where this DVD does shine is through the special features that include a collection of amusing deleted scenes, extended scenes, blooper reels, road trip dummy (a fake making of), cast of tennis (more cameo appearances), zillionaire (another "fake" making of") and finally Karaoke. If you love the Tim and Eric songs, than Karaoke allows you to sing along with Tim and Eric to some of their whacked out songs. Maybe if you have a couple of beers... ok, a few slabs handy, you'll enjoy this.

Conclusion

I hated Tim and Eric... I thought they were dickheads and I was quite annoyed that I had to review this disc. But I had a comedic epiphany and damn them... I actually started enjoying their skits as I laughed, cried and scratched my head in confusion. Dickheads they are but Tim and Eric: Awesome Show, Great Job! 4 is the funniest thing I've seen in ages.
