Then She Found Me

Then She Found Me is a drama/comedy directed by Helen Hunt who plays April Epner, a 39-year old kindergarten teacher in New York City who suffers from a myriad of problems.

Based on the novel by Elinor Lipman, Epner is a childless and confused woman who eventually becomes pregnant to her husband after a hilarious bout of break-up sex. What is so unique about this movie are the real-world characterizations by the actors, especially by Hunt who really transforms herself into the role.

Her mother Bernice Graces is the extrovert compared to her daughter Epner and is played brilliantly by Bette Midler who always lies to those around her, even stating that her daughter was conceived during a one-night stand with Steve McQueen.

Colin Firth once again plays the stereotypically White Knight character who actually does his role justice in this strange yet delightful and down to earth film about love, life and children.
