Secrets of SEAL Team Six DVD Review I will say all in all I did enjoy Secrets of SEAL Team Six, the look at the Osama Bin Laden mission was great and the training of the teams was inspiring but without further information of the team and the other missions they complete I was left wanting to know more.

Secrets of SEAL Team Six

They have been kept secret to the world for over 30 years, a highly classified special unit of soldiers that are the best of the best at what they do and save the world on a daily basis. No it’s not the Avengers, but a real life elite unit that recently took out the most wanted terrorist in the world, Osama Bin Laden. Not much is known about SEAL Team Six, but this documentary looks at changing that, with interviews from former team members and the first in depth look into what happened and how Bin Laden was killed.

The SEAL’s (Sea, Air and Land) are a very select, highly sort after group of specially trained soldiers, they are one of the world’s best kept secrets, they fight off threats of national security and their identities are wanted by every known terrorist on the planet. While their missions are kept top secret we are given an in depth look in to how these soldiers are trained and selected, the advanced weaponry they receive and what it takes to be a part of such a sought after team.

Before becoming a SEAL one must be the best of best of his unit to even get selected for the training and even then, you still have 6 months of sea based training, 6 months of tactical training and 6 months of air based training to look forward too. It is said that through every set of training at least 75% of trainees won’t make it on to the next gruelling set.

This was a very interesting look in to the lives of the SEAL team six what they go through to get where they are and what they do on a daily bases from defusing nuclear bombs and killing illusive terrorists. The interviews are filled with never before told stories of the SEAL teams along with looks at their weaponry they use to complete their missions but the most interesting part was the in depth look on how the team killed Osama Bin Laden. This is the most complete look into how everything happened for the seizing of the building, to how many terrorists filled the halls, up until how many bullets where placed in to bin laden.

With a title like Secrets of SEAL Team Six you would expect to get a great insight to who they are and the missions they complete but all that is kept under wraps as it can’t be known to the public. Not enough new details are given throughout the doco that haven’t previously been available through the news or just the internet and while it is very interesting I was hoping for more on these topics rather than what weapons they use.

The DVD video quality is what you would expect for a documentary shot on HD rather than film, the doco looks crisp and smooth and while the sound quality lacked the 5.1 surround that I’m so used too, it wasn’t really needed with this one.

The DVD Features were very basic, only one special feature “Weaponology” while this special feature itself was longer that then actual feature it just went into more detail on what the feature film had already touched on. While I do like knowing all about the little gadgets and high class weaponry they use I felt like I was just sitting through the unedited version of the feature film.

I will say all in all I did enjoy Secrets of SEAL Team Six, the look at the Osama Bin Laden mission was great and the training of the teams was inspiring but without further information of the team and the other missions they complete I was left wanting to know more.
