This amazing documentary directed by David de Vries gives the viewer a truly frightening and insightful look at what would happen to the planet if mankind suddenly vanished. With careful use of computer generated images, de Vries cleverly tells a tale of how mother nature would reclaim the Earth after the devastation caused by humans.

The first aspect of this theory is that the main utilities around the world such as electricity would eventually cease due to no human interaction and as years pass, plants would eventually reclaim the streets that would also lead to animals returning the cities of man. As decades pass, followed by centuries, eventually buildings and bridges would begin to collapse due to the lack of tendering by mankind. The subways of New York would eventually become water ways and life would start to form.

Apart from this “what if” scenario, the documentary also speaks with a variety of experts from engineering, botany, ecology, biology, geology, climatology, and archaeology who give their expert opinion on how the planet would eventually reclaim the world of man. It’s a gripping documentary that we could highly recommend to all viewers.

On DVD, the video quality is exceptionally sharp and at times, the computer generated images look quite real. The soundtrack and sound effects go hand in hand with the documentary which does assist the viewer become immersed in this enthralling documentary.
