Jailbait
A simple and engaging drama.
Randy (Michael Pit), plays a young man sentenced under the 3 strikes law
to 25 years jail time. His older cell mate Jake (Stephen Adly Guirgis)
gives him some lesson in life in a manner which is equally caring and
menacing.
The beauty of this film is in its simplicity. The core of the film is
its characterization and dynamic use of space. The film-makers have
striped back all excess to a duologue set within the tight confines of
thier cell. The camera's subtle use of angles within the space is quite
emotive, given us a sense of the characters thoughts.
Jailbait is a fantastic character piece, with emotive acting and tight
direction Jailbail is a prime example of indie film innovation.
