Four Holidays

After watching this Christmas movie, I'm not sure which of the actors is running out of steam more, Vince Vaughn or Reese Witherspoon with their lacklustre performance about a couple who have continually attempted to avoid Christmas with the family.

As another year comes around, unmarried couple Brad (Vaughn) and Kate (Witherspoon) have another tropical holiday planned away from the family. Unfortunately a spanner is thrown into their romantic island getaway and when their plane is grounded at the airport, both are caught on TV, attempting to make a Christmas getaway.

As both are busted by their families, they do the unimaginable and visit all four of their dysfunctional families in attempt to rekindle their Christmas spirit. As I shuddered watching this movie with all its clichés and stereotypes, it's a sad day when all the funny moments of the film have already been seen in the trailers.

That involves Brad almost vomiting from the smell of a baby vomit, Kate's sisters showing Brad a "fat" photo of her in high school and lastly, Brad's redneck brothers wrestling him, Four Holidays is unfortunately oozing with Hollywood hollowness. It even seems like this movie is from the 80's as Hollywood attempts to cash in on the Christmas festivities.

The jokes are slow, the actors feel like they want to be in better places which includes Robert Duvall as Brad's father and Jon Voight as Kate's father, two former powerhouses and to compound the situation, a majority of characters in the film are quite unlikeable.

Unfortunately this movie falls on many levels and even the special features which include "deleted scenes" (HA!) and a "gag reel" just add to the viewer's misery and even if you're a fan of either Vaughn or Witherspoon, they definitely don't give anything in return.

Horrible and barely a pass!
