First Snow

First Snow is a very impressive drama thriller that somehow missed the mainstream attraction at the box office. Thankfully, this masterfully crafted movie by director Mark Fergus makes its way onto DVD. Starring the talented Australian actor Guy Pearce, William Fichtner (Prison Break, The Dark Knight), J.K. Simmons (Spider-man) and the talented yet gorgeous Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly) and First Snow has a truly outstanding cast.

The story revolvers around Jimmy Starks (Guy Pearce), a successful salesman who breaks down in the middle of nowhere. While killing time during the repair of his car, Jimmy spends some time with a psychic (J.K. Simmons).

The psychic tells him a couple of things and then has a clearly terrifying vision. He gives him his money back and asks him to go. When the first few things he was told come true, Jimmy starts to worry about the vision and returns to the scene of the mental crime. He's then told that he'll be dead soon, but he's safe until the first snow. Stark becomes quite paranoid about the reading from the psychic, convinced that everyone in his life could be the one to take him out.

When he learns that his former business partner, one who took the bullet and went to jail for some bad dealings with Jimmy, has been paroled, the paranoia reaches a whole new level. Without spoiling the movie, it's a thrilling drama that contains enough twists and turns to make even the expected unexpected.

Definitely an engaging DVD with a strong storyline, brilliant acting performances and a must watch for lovers of good dramas and thrillers. Gripping and unexpected from start to finish!
