Family Guy Season 8

It's amazing that a cancelled cartoon series has become so popular and since its return to TV, Family Guy has become bigger and better. Move over Simpsons and move over South Park because Family Guy not only uses innuendo and anecdotes to tell its humourous stories but also uses some great pop culture references that will you have in stitches.

Season 8 of Family Guy on DVD collects all 13 episodes into one easily accessible collection that contains some great Family Guy moments. For the uninitiated, Family Guy revolves around the Griffin family that include dad Peter, mother Lois, daughter Meg, son Chris, Stewie, their baby and finally Brian, their talking dog who has a massive crush with Lois.

Add in a variety of supporting cast members such as the sleezeball Quagmire or stereotypical and clichéd African American Cleveland and Family Guy is truly a politically incorrect series that is really needed in this climate of over the top politically correctness.

At it's core, it's witty, it's crass and it's extremely clever which is obvious why this series has become so popular. The best part of season 8 of Family Guy is that all episodes are quite entertaining, however the standout episodes for me include episode 6 "I Love Jesus" which has Peter Griffin singing the 1963 "hit" Surfin Bird throughout the entire episode.

"Road to Germany" is another fun episode that has Stewie the baby (he is a genius) going back into time and ending up in Nazi Germany for some truly hilarious anecdotes. Classic stuff!

Once you have finished the series, there are some fun special features that include commentaries on every episode (highly recommended to watch), deleted scenes and some interesting featurettes that include footage from the 2008 Comic Con which is a fun experience.

In conclusion, Family Guy just keeps betting better and better and this is one series that we could recommend to those lovers of crude, clever and at times politically incorrect humour.

Brilliantly funny and easily worth it to see episode 12, "Family Gay".
